The UK PAL model of the Sony CCD-TRV65E
camcorder may be enabled for A-V input, thus permitting
it's use as a high-band mastering recorder . This could
be of benefit for making master recordings of events on
location, where the size, weight, or power requirements
of an S-VHS or D-VHS master recorder preclude the use of
such equipment. The procedure is as follows:
- Change 00:01 from 00
to 01 <STORE> (enable
memory write)
- Change 0D:14 from 64
to 66 <STORE> (enable A-V
in)
- Change 0D:21 from 00
to 02 <STORE> (checksum
compensation)
- Change 00:01 from 01
to 00 <STORE> (disable
memory write)
This procedure does not involve monitoring or changing
the checksum. Instead, a compensating value is set into
the otherwise unused location 0D:21 in
order to compensate for the functional change introduced
into 0D:14.
It is possible that the procedure may also work on
NTSC models, but this has not been tested. On the other
hand, it is possible that NTSC models may have the
facility as standard.
The printout (dump) of the memory values held in page 0D
of an input enabled TRV65E is as follows:
